Greyson Chance MOG Music Network Interview & Photoshoot

Greyson Chance stopped by the MOG Music Network (MMN) offices in San Francisco, California last week for another photo shoot and interview!

We already knew that during Greyson’s stay in San Francisco last week he performed at the YouTube corporate offices, but that wasn’t the young singer’s only stop in the Golden Gate City.

MMN Editor Andrew Phillips welcomed Greyson into their offices where they sat down and watched some videos of various celebrity moments.  During each video Greyson was asked a carefully selected question pertaining to the clip.

They first watched Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” music video.  Following the video Greyson was asked if he could replicate the success that Lady Gaga has achieved consistently.  Greyson responded by saying that he’s not looking to duplicate anyone and we should expect his first album to have a pop-rock feel to it.  Greyson acknowledged that R&B/Hip-Hop isn’t his style and he isn’t going to try to be someone he’s not.  Greyson compared his style of music to that of Coldplay.

Next Greyson was shown an adorable video of a child playing the ukulele while singing “I’m Yours.  After the video young Chance was asked how he could convince people he actually has talent and isn’t just another cute face on YouTube.  In response, Greyson said that “You have to make it interesting”.  He adds that you have to have an edge or a special spark in your music that makes people want to listen.

For the third video Greyson checked out a funny clip featuring pop star Justin Bieber.  In the video Justin pokes fun back at all the haters who have come down on him.  This brought up the next (two-part) question; “Are you the next Justin Bieber and how are you handing the haters”?  As Greyson’s has said before, he genuinely respects Justin and all that he’s accomplished but realizes that his direction is different than that of Bieber’s.  Greyson addressed the haters by saying that he really isn’t bothered by them and views them as being outside his circle.  Greyson is confident when his fans are happy and that’s all that really matters to him.

Greyson is then shown a video of Taiwanese Lin Yu Chin, a rising YouTube star who has become well known for singing his rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I will Always Love You”.  Staying right on topic, Greyson is asked what happens when the “next Greyson Chance” comes along.  Greyson realizes that there’s always going to be competition, but he welcomes it and is happy just as long as his fans are satisfied.  Young Chance says that he is a fan just like anyone else and enjoys watching videos of other talent as much as you and I do.

To wrap it up Greyson checks out a clip of a large group of fans running down Justin Bieber and chasing him all over the parking lot before they surround him outside of one of his concert venues.  “Are you ready for this to happen to you” MMN asks.  Greyson answers candidly, saying “oh my gosh!”  According to Greyson, in him hometown of Oklahoma (where he’s most easily recognized) fans ask for pictures but says it’s nothing like being chased down and surrounded in the middle of a parking lot.  Greyson says that he is ready for whatever comes his way though, even if it means being surrounded by a crazed swarm of his awesome fans!
