ElevenEleven’s Ellen DeGeneres Leaves American Idol

After one season with Ellen DeGeneres judging on American Idol, she is stepping down to focus on Greyson Chance, her record label (ElevenEleven) and discovering new talent.

Ellen DeGeneres started on American Idol this year when she replaced Paula Abdul who left at the end of last season.  When the announcement was made that Ellen would be coming to Idol, there was lots of talk about what she would bring to the table with no musical experience.  Ellen answered these critics early on saying, “Hopefully, I’m the people’s point of view because I’m just like you… I’m looking at it as a person who is going to buy the music and is going to relate to that person.”

Staying true to her word, Ellen realized that American Idol was not here scene.  Ellen said, “I let FOX and American Idol producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me… I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next.”

On June 1st GreysonChanceWeb reported that Ellen announced the grond breaking of her record label, ElevenEleven and signed her first artist, Greyson Chance.  With Ellen and Greyson now working together on his first album and Ellen’s quest to find the label’s next big artist, she said that her work schedule became too much.

Ellen said, “It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for. I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on ‘Idol’ and I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.”

It’s great to see that Ellen is really concentrating on Greyson and her label!

Greyson Chance, ElevenEleven with Interscope Records

Greyson Chance and Ellen DeGeneres’ ElevenEleven label goes with Interscope Records (Geffen Records)!

On June 1st we reported on Ellen’s announcement that Greyson Chance was signed by ElevenEleven records, a label she started after discovering Greyson on YouTube.  In this article we mentioned that there was a good possibility of Ellen’s new label establishing a partnership with a major record company such as Interscope Records.  At the time of this original article there were rumors all over the place that Greyson had signed with Interscope but most dismissed this possibility after Ellen’s announcement.

Today we learned that our initial speculation was absolutely correct!  (Whoever started the initial rumor was kinda’ right too!) We now know that Greyson is officially listed on the Interscope-Geffen-A&M label group website as one of their signed artists!

The Interscrope-Geffen-A&M label group is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group.  The group operates under three labels: Interscope, Geffen and A&M.  As of right now there is no official confirmation as to which label in particular Greyson will be operating under although there are several reports it’s Geffen Records.  We knew it was just a matter of time before Ellen attached herself with a giant such as Interscope, being that her label is still in the infant stages of development.

With this announcement Greyson is now part of  one of the largest and most respected record labels in the music industry.  Greyson will be among artists such as Eminem, Dr. Dre, The Black Eyed Peas and his biggest idol, Lady Gaga.  Being a part of such a huge label also opens up the door for collaboration with these other artists.  Think about it, how amazing would it be if Greyson Chance and Lady Gaga did a song together!

Could You be the next ElevenEleven Artist?

Everyone who has ”made it” caught their big break at one time or another that launched their careers.  Greyson Chance’s big break was Ellen DeGeneres and her talk show.  As we know, Ellen discovered Greyson on YouTube and brought him on her television show to perform, turning him into an overnight superstar.  Greyson inspired Ellen to start up her own record label which she called “ElevenEleven”; Greyson was signed as her first artist.  Could you be Ellen’s second artist?

Ellen is now on the hunt for the label’s next breakout star and it could be you!  This summer Ellen will be posting videos on her website, TheEllenShow.com of untapped talent.  If you (or somebody you know) can sing, submit your video to Ellen.

Remember, if you have a dream, pursue that dream and never give up!

Greyson Chance’s First Day at the Recording Studio

On June 28th Greyson Chance let us know that he would be heading to the recording studio for the very first time!  This announcement really exemplified the fact that Greyson’s career is moving along in the right direction.  This was the long awaited announcement that every Greyson fan had been waiting for!

On June 29th Greyson Tweeted about his experience in the recording studio, saying “Had a blast recording today!”.  After a very long day at the recording studio Greyson added that he was tired and was ready to get a “long nice sleep”.  Now we must await the next big announcement… album release date?

Greyson Chance Moves to Los Angeles to Record

Yup…that’s right, it’s official! Greyson Chance announced himself that he has moved to Los Angeles, California for two months with his family to record his first album. This is awesome news for all the Greysonaholics out there!  If you are anything like me, you’re dieing at this point to hear what he puts down in the studio.

Greyson’s journey in Los Angeles will be documented by the Ellen DeGeneres show by way of vlogs.  The first vlog (below) was just released and is brought to you by GreysonChanceWeb.com courtesy of The Ellen Show.

Greyson Chance YouTube Sensation

GreysonChanceWeb.com was established to follow the new YouTube sensation, Greyson Michael Chance.  Greyson is the twelve-year-old singer, songwriter and pianist who took the internet by storm only a short time ago.

It was April 2010 when Greyson performed at the Edmond music festival, singing his version of Lady GaGa’s “Paparazzi”.  Shortly after the performance Greyson posted a video of his Paparazzi performance on YouTube.  One month later U.S. talk show host Ellen Degeneres came across the video and was blown away by it.  Ellen invited Greyson to perform on her show which he happily agreed to.

After Greyson’s first Ellen performance his “Paparazzi” YouTube video received over thiry-one million hits.  Two of Greyson’s original songs (“Stars” and “Broken Hearts”), also posted on YouTube, collectively received over seven million views after his Ellen appearance.

As a result of Greyson’s internet stardom,  Ellen invited Greyson back to her show for a second performance.  On May 25th, Ellen announced on her show that she started her own record label (called ElevenEleven) and signed her first artist, Greyson Chance.

Greyson Chance Signed Signed by Ellen DeGeneres

We brushed on this topic in an earlier post but we wanted to make sure all of our readers know that Ellen DeGeneres has officially signed Greyson Chance as her first artist on the ElevenEleven record label.  Ellen’s discovery of Greyson Chance inspired her to start her own record label and in turn sign Greyson as her first artist.  Ellen stated that she had been thinking about starting a record label for a long time and the discovery of Greyson inspired her to pursue that dream.

During a recent interview with Ellen she said “I’m looking forward to working with Greyson on his first album, I’m looking forward to discovering more new artists”.

So what about the Interscope Records rumor?  There have been several reports online indicating that Greyson had signed with Interscope records.  While it’s official that Greyson will be on Ellen’s EleveEleven label, we believe that the possibility still exists he will also be signed to Interscrope or perhaps another major label.  Maybe it will be Atlantic Records or what about Diddy’s Bad Boy label?  Diddy was at one of Greyson’s performances on The Ellen Show…. who knows!?

I’m sure we will be hearing a lot more about the record label arrangement in the weeks to come, so stay tuned!
