Greyson Chance ‘Purple Sky’ Release Date

Greyson Chance has been telling us that one of his favorite new songs is entitled Purple Sky so it was a bit of a surprise when we didn’t find it on the track listing for his new album, Hold On ‘Til The Night which will be released on August 2nd.

One of our very observant community members, Love4Greyson let us known on the forum that she stumbled across a possible answer and the expected release date!  According to Amazon.com, Purple Sky will be released the same day as Hold On ‘Til The Night (August 2nd)!

Purple Sky is a song about teen bullying and teen suicides.  Back in October on the Ellen DeGeneres show Greyson said, “The whole meaning for the song is when kids are feeling horrible things… I want kids to late at night when they’re crying and they feel so low to listen to the song and just be like it’s going to get better!”

You can preview a sound clip from the song over on Amazon.

Greyson Chance on The Morning Blend

Greyson Chance stopped by The Morning Blend this AM to visit with Molly Fay and Tiffany Ogle.

While in Wisconsin for the ‘Dancing Crazy’ tour Greyson took time out to visit The Morning Blend where he and the beautiful hosts had a great chat about Greyson’s past, present and future. Things started off with Molly and Tiffany introducing Greyson, giving the viewers a little background on the thirteen-year-old singer. Greyson said that he really likes Milwaukee even though it’s cold; he woke up in his hotel room this morning to a cup of hot co-co as he sat in front of the fire place.

Greyson then talks about the video that started it all, the “Paparazzi” video which launched him to super stardom last April. One of the most surprising things we learned is that Greyson has only seen this video about two times!

One of the most common questions that is discussed when it comes to young singers is whether or not the parents have pushed them to do something they didn’t want to do. Greyson was asked this very question on The Morning Blend; his response was that he was never pushed. According to Greyson his family had an old piano in the house and one day he decided to start banging on it. Apparently Greyson’s mom was annoyed at this banging and told him to learn how to play…. he did just that!

One of the hot topics of discussion recently has been Greyson’s new song which we’ve talked about and named in a few recent posts. Greyson told us that he premiered the song in Kansas City, when he introduced it in Milwaukee last night he was super impressed that two fans in the front row already knew every word! (That’s a true Greysonator for ya!)

The next topic of discussion… girls! girls! girls! As of right now Greyson does NOT have a girlfriend, so ladies, good luck!

Switching gears back to the ‘Dancing Crazy’ tour, Greyson talks about who’s on tour with him. Greyson’s parents have been and will continue to take turns being with their teen prodigy throughout the tour. Also on the tour bus is Greyson’s  personal school teacher and of course, his band.

On a personal note, Greyson talked about his upbringing and what things were like for him in school before the stardom. Greyson said that he was always a little bit of an outcast because of the music he listened to and the clothes he wore. Greyson acknowledged he has been teased in the past but joked that he would tell those bullies now to look where he’s at! A song on Greyson’s unreleased album entitled “Purple Sky” is actually about teen bullying and all the suicide related deaths as a result of bullying.

Greyson wraps things up by reminding all his fans to go out and buy his single which is out right now anywhere CD’s are sold! Be sure to check Greyson out tomorrow night at the Rosemont Theatre in Rosemont, Illinois.

Following the interview Greyson put on a min-concert for The Morning Blend viewers when he performed his cover of Augusta’s Fire and his single Waiting Outside the Lines.  Checkout the videos of these two performances below!

Greyson Chance Opens Up at the What Teens Want Conference

Greyson Chance stopped by the What Teens Want conference in Los Angeles Tuesday shortly after performing his new single “Waiting Outside The Lines” on the Ellen Show.

Greyson talked about his album, the always constant comparisons between him and Justin Bieber and his ever famous Lady Gaga “Paparazzi” cover.

JSYK (Just So You Know) and Cambio also attended the two-day conference and were on location when Greyson hit the stage to answer questions.  Below we summed up what was asked and the answers to the questions!

When will Greyson Chance’s full length album be released?
Sometime in early 2011

Will Greyson be releasing any more single?
One more single is scheduled to be released prior to the full-length album.  While it’s not known what the next single will be, Greyson did mention a song called “Purple Sky” on The Ellen Show which he wrote about teen bullying and many believe that will be it!

Was Greyson Chance ever been a victim of bullying?
As we learned previously on The Ellen Show, Greyson did acknowledge the fact that he had been bullied, specifically for liking Lady Gaga but says that it wasn’t too bad for him.

Will Greyson Chance and Lady Gaga every collaborate?
Apparently there is a “top secret” project in the works right now!  Troy Carter who manages both Greyson and Lady Gaga says that the collaboration between the pop stars is in the works, “It’s coming!”… “very soon”!  (Can’t wait!)

Would Greyson Chance and Justin Bieber ever sing together?
Not likely.  While Greyson admires Bieber he said the comparisons aren’t accurate due to the fact that they really have two different styles of music.

How does Greyson utilize Twitter?
Greyson uses Twitter to stay connected to his fans.  Greyson understands what it’s like to be on the other side and wants his fans to feel connected to him.  Greyson uses Twitter to keep fans updated (along with his #1 Fansite Site) and keeps it updates using his iPhone, iPad and new Blackberry cell phone.  Greyson commented that technology is something that always surprises him.

Greyson Chance Opens Up About Bullying

Greyson Chance made his fourth appearance on The Ellen Show Today but he wasn’t just there to debut his new single, “Waiting Outside the Lines”.  Greyson and Ellen DeGeneres took a few moments to talk about bullying as well.

Ellen addressed Greyson saying, “I was listening to some of your new material… you wrote a song about everything that’s going on with bullying”.

Greyson responded, “The song is called Purple Sky… the whole meaning for the song is when kids are feeling horrible things… I want kids to late at night when there crying and they feel so low to listen to the song and just be like it’s going to get better!”

We’ve partnered with Greyson Chance and Ellen DeGeneres to combat the growing epidemic of bullying by launching our “The Chance to Stop Bullying” campaign.  Remember to Tweet the hash tag #TheChanceToStopBullying and take a stand against bullies!

Greyson Chance on Ellen DeGeneres via Skype

Greyson Chance appeared on the nationally televised TV talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres show this morning.  We broke the news to you first that Greyson would be making an appearance on Ellen today, his third since being discovered by Ellen on YouTube many months ago.  Courtesy of Skype, Greyson appeared live on the show thorough a remote video feed.

While Greyson told us that he would have much rather seen Ellen in person, he was very excited to talk with her and give us some updates on what has been happening recently.  Broadcasting live from his Los Angeles recording studio, Greyson told us that he’s been busy recording his debut album in the studio and loves every minute of it.  Greyson told us that he really enjoys the atmosphere that the studio brings and loves being around his recording team.

Ellen talked to Greyson about his most recent performance at the We Day celebration in Toronto, Canada last week where the thirteen-year-old singer performed for somewhere around 18,000 people!  Ellen, like most of us was very impressed with how calm and comfortable he came off during the concert and complimented him for a job well done.  Admittedly Greyson was nervous when he walked out on stage at the performance but the butterflies flew away when he sat down at the piano and realized that what he was doing could inspire others to make a difference in the world.  In the end Greyson says he was “blessed” to be there.

Lady Gaga has always been one of Greyson’s biggest idols and sources of inspirations since watching her perform at the Video Music Awards last year.  This year Greyson had two opportunities to meet Ms. Gaga during her tour, once in Oklahoma City and once in Los Angeles.  Ellen asked Greyson what it was like meeting his idol for the first time and why he looks up to her so much.  Greyson said that both times meeting her was “incredible”.  “As many records as she’s sold and as many shows as she’s sold out, she manages to stay the same” Greyson added.  Through it all Greyson sees Lady Gaga as being “pure” and “genuine” and says that he’s officially one of her “little monsters”. (A little monster is a Lady Gaga fanatic!)

Switching gears, Ellen bring up an important issue, one that we have joined forces with Greyson himself to combat… bullying.  If you recall, yesterday we launched our official The Chance To Stop Bullying Campaign where we are asking kids and teens across the world to stand up when they see bullying occurring and say “that’s not okay!”.  In addition we’ve asked that awareness be brought to the subject by Tweeting (on Twitter) comments with the hash tag #TheChanceToStopBullying.

Ellen pointed out the fact that Greyson has spoken out against bullying asked him if he’s ever been the victim of it.  Greyson told us that he has in fact been bullied in the past and thinks that it’s so important we speak up against it because it’s something that doesn’t have to happen and human lives are being lost as a result of it.

Finishing up, Ellen lets us know that we should expect to see Greyson back on her show (in person this time) very soon performing one his new singles.  Rumor has had it that Greyson’s single will be dropping any day now, so this is definitely something we’re looking forward too.

The CHANCE to Stop Bullying Campaign

Yesterday we posted an article bringing awareness to bullying in light of the tragic story of eighteen-year-old Tyler Clementi who committed suicide after being tormented by his peers.  Greyson Chance and Ellen DeGeneres have both publically spoken out against bullying, bringing attention to a subject that can no longer be ignored and must be addressed.

Greyson Chance Web has since joined the fight to bring awareness to the subject by reaching out to our readers, asking that you too take a stand!

We are starting our official The CHANCE to Stop Bullying challenge on Twitter.  There are two parts to this challenge, first show your support against bullying and take stand by trending the topic #TheChanceToStopBullying on Twitter.  Trend it today and everyday to show that you are against bullying and will stand up against it!  The second part is, when you see someone being bullied, whether it is at school or over the internet (Cyberbullying) stand up and let them know, “IT’S NOT OKAY”.

Bullies attempt to humiliate and torment others to make themselves feel better and feel “cool”.  If we take a stand against bullies and let them know that what they are doing is “not cool” and not okay, they will stop!

Now is the time (our CHANCE) to STOP bullying.

Join Greyson Chance and Greyson Chance Web as we bring awareness to this subject on Twitter.

Trend the topic #TheChanceToStopBullying and stand up to bullying!

Greyson Chance Advocates for Anti-Bullying

Did you know that nearly 1 in 3 students are involved in bullying? Did you know that while school violence as a whole is declining, bullying behaviors have increased by 5%? Did you know that kids who are obese, gay or have disabilities are up to 63% more likely to be bullied than other children? Did you know that last month alone, there were multiple suicide deaths as a result of bullying? These startling facts are the reason that Ellen DeGeneres and Greyson Chance have taken a stand against bullying and are speaking out against it.

Bullying is an epidemic that affects kids from grade school all the way through college. Eighteen-year-old Tyler Clementi committed suicide last week after two other university freshmen illegally recorded him in a sexual encounter with another man and broadcast-ed it over the internet. Tyler’s case is a prime example of Cyberbullying, the 21st century, high-tech way used to torment others.

So what is Cyberbullying? According to Wikipedia, “Cyberbullying involves the use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group that is intended to harm others.”  Whether it is the continued harassment of someone on a social networking site such as Facebook or MySpace or an act of causing emotional harm to someone such as in Tyler Clementi’s case, Cyberbullying and bullying at any age is NOT okay.

This week TV Talk show host and founder of ElevenEleven records, Ellen DeGeneres spoke out against teenage bullying. Ellen publicly broadcast-ed a message which was shown on television and her website. Ellen urged us to take a stand against bullying and wants anyone who feels there alone to know that there is help out there.

Greyson Chance followed in the footsteps of his friend Ellen yesterday when he posted a message to his Twitter account (@GreysonChance) asking teens to stop the bullying, stand up for what’s right and make a difference.

Greyson Chance: This breaks my heart. We must stop bullying in our lives… Teens, I know. Gossip is a thing that is almost a necessity in Middle School. But we have to stop. Human lives are being taken away because of this bullying. Think about what you say before you say it. We know that it never feels good when we get talked about…so why do we do it to other people? This is something that we have to stop for the safety of the kids around the world. This is a cry for help…please stop bullying.

Greyson Chance is much more than just about the music. Greyson is on a mission to make a real difference in the world and is using his new-found stardom to accomplish this. If you haven’t checked out Greyson Chance’s performance at We Day 2010, be sure to do so. This event celebrated the power of young people as they create positive change in the world. This is just another prime example of Greyson’s determination to make a difference and use his fame for good!

Way to go Greyson! You rock and rock on!
