Greyson Chance Area Codes (405): Video Tour of Edmond Oklahoma

Greyson Chance takes us on a tour of his piano collection, favorite charity organization, church and favorite record store in his hometown of Edmond, Oklahoma in the latest edition of VEVO Area Codes: (405).

The first stop was Greyson’s home in Edmond!  We catch a glimpse of Greyson’s first piano which his parents purchased for $200 from a neighbor down the street.  It was a clunker compared to his new one, also in is home which was given to him by Ellen DeGeneres.  Greyson tells us that learning the piano at first was very challenging but he stuck with it because he really wanted to learn it.

Next we visited the Henderson Hills Church, the venue for the Edmond Music Festival!  This was the place where Greyson participated in a talent competition and sang Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi.  This is the place where it all started for Greyson!

The third stop on the Edmond tour landed us at Greyson’s favorite charity organization, The Children’s Miracle Network.

Upon arrival Greyson told a doctor that he was donating $5,000 to them but after meeting with the kids at the hospital he doubled it to $10,000!

For the final stop Greyson swung by his favorite record store in Oklahoma City, Guestroom Records.  Greyson has a rather large collection of vinyl records and takes about fifty of them on tour with him along with his record player! (Old Skool!)

Here is the video of Greyson Chance giving us the tour!

Greyson Chance Home for Benefit Concerts at Edmond Santa Fe High School

Greyson Chance returned home to Edmond, Oklahoma on February 19th to perform two benefit concerts at Edmond Stana Fe High School.

For weeks Greyson had been talking about the concerts at his hometown’s high school so you know he was pumped up for these two very special shows.

Proceeds from both concerts will go to the Children’s Miracle Network of Oklahoma.  For those that don’t know, the Children’s Miracle Network is an international non-profit organization that raises funds for children’s hospitals, medical research and community awareness of children’s health issues.

Greyson’s homecoming brought out a huge crowd.  A line of fans wrapped out of the school’s theater, down the school’s corridor and into the parking lot before the show.  Greyson’s family, friends and teachers were all in attendance for the show and he sure did not disappoint any of them.  Among the songs played during the show included Broken Hearts, Waiting Outside The Lines and his newest unreleased song, Unfriend You.

Greyson told us after the show that he thought everything went really well despite some craziness!  Greyson wrote in his journal: “The show was so good! It got crazy and hectic towards the end, but I like crazy and hectic.”

In a video released today by NewsOK, (a media outlet powered by The Oklahoman) Greyson Chance performs “Fire” again but this time from his hometown of Edmond, Oklahoma.

NewsOK tell us that on October 22nd they will run the full interview with Greyson along will additional video in which he talks about his new Yamaha piano he received from Larsen Music following his second appearance on The Ellen Show.

Greyson Chance Returns to School, Online

Greyson Chance is set to hit the books once again as the 2010/2011 school year begins; but the teen singer’s seventh grade venture will be a bit different than that of his peers.

It was only three short months ago when Greyson Chance was sitting in a sixth grade classroom at Cheyenne Middle School in Edmond, Oklahoma.  The teen singer (then twelve years-old) carried on each day like any other student; he attended classes, ate lunch in the cafeteria and played with friends after school before sitting down at night to do his homework.  As the  school year concluded though Greyson’s life took a 180 degree turn after performing his rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.  After stunning back to back performances and landing a record deal, the rest is history!

Fast forward three months, in the full swing of recording his debut album now, Greyson Chance has to be concerned with hitting the books once again.   Earlier today Greyson told us that he is enrolled in an online school which will allow him to remotely complete coursework through the Internet.  The focused singer has admittedly been slacking a bit in this department though;  Greyson indicated to us that while he was tweeting online, he really should have been studying!

We’re sure Greyson will get his schedule all worked out to allow time for school, after all, he’ll have to answer to mom if he doesn’t!  It just goes to show you that while most singers only have to focus on their music, Greyson has so much more he has to contend with, overcome and conquer.  For those that don’t know, Greyson’s favorite subject is English because it helps him with writing music.  As Greyson goes back to school we expect that this will only make him a better artist in the studio.

You’ll do great Greyson, rock on!

Summer’s Over, Greyson Chance Just Getting Started

Children everywhere have begun to head back to the classroom as we mark the start of another school year.  This is the time when they look forward to reuniting with friends and checking out how classmates have changed over the summer break.  While for most these changes include a new clothes style or fresh haircut, for some the few months off will have resulted in something much more, something only a child good dream of, something like Greyson Chance

As the 2009/2010 school year at Cheyenne Middle School in Edmond, Oklahoma was wrapping up, twelve-year-old (now thirteen) Greyson Chance was just getting started.  It was April 28th, 2010 when Greyson posted a video of himself on YouTube singing his rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” at the Edmond Music Festival.  With a little help from his brother Tanner, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres got a glimpse of the video on May 11th when it had about 10,000 views.  The next day Greyson was headed to Los Angeles where he performed “Paparazzi” on Ellen’s show which first aired May 13th.

Since Greyson’s first appearance (and second appearance) on The Ellen Show, his YouTube video has racked up over 30 million views and has gained national media attention with his appearance on the CBS Evening News.  Now working on his first album in Los Angeles with the backing of ElevenEleven and Geffen/Interscope records, the summer has only marked the beginning of Greyson’s career.

This school year will be quite different for Greyson Chance though.  As most teens climb aboard the bus and head off to class, Greyson will be hard at work in the studio finishing his first album which is set to drop this fall/holiday season.  Don’t think Scott or Lisa (Greyson’s parents) will be giving their talented son a year long absence note though.  Greyson will be home schooled on the road for the duration of his seventh grade year.

We should be reminded that with all this, Greyson is still just thirteen-years-old and deals with all the same issues any adolescent teen would.  Recently Greyson himself was reminded of this when he lost one of his last baby teeths.  Greyson was quoted saying, “Sometimes I forget that I am still a kid, until I have to pull my own tooth out”.

Summer vacation may only have been a few months long, but in this time Greyson has shown that he is truly committed to his music career and we can only imagine what the next few months will bring the young paparazzi singing superstar.

Greyson Chance Heading Home for his Birthday

Greyson Chance is headed back home to Edmond, Oklahoma for his thirteenth birthday celebration!

Greyson sent a message home on Auugst 7th during his performance at BlogHer ’10 letting friends know that he was coming home to spend his special day with friends and family.  Greyson’s birthday (August 16th) marks a huge step in the young singer’s career as he begins to transition from being just another kid playing the piano on YouTube to an all out teen idol!

Greyson certainly has his work cut out for him though as he hits his 13th year.  If you recall, wildly successfull Justin Bieber was 15 years old when he released his debut single, “One Time” in 2009.  With the expected fall release of Greyson’s debut record, he will be just 13 when his album hits stores and it will be backed by one of the largest record labels in the music industry, Geffen/Interscope… that’s an amazing accomplishment.

Around 3:00 EST this afternoon Greyson shot out a Tweet to all his followers letting them know he was at the airport, eagerly awaiting his flight back to Edmond.  Greyson has plans to hang with friends and family and just enjoy his 13th birthday!

Happy Birthday Greyson from your #1 Fan Site, GreysonChanceWeb.com!

Greyson Chance to Attend Lady GaGa Concert

One of Greyson Chance’s biggest inspirations, Lady GaGa is scheduled to perform in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma tomorrow (July 18th).  Greyson’s town of Edmond is only 18 minutes by car from Oklahoma City so it wasn’t a surprise when Greyson let us know via Twitter that he will be attending this concert and is looking forward to it!

I’m really excited that Greyson has the oppertunity to see his idol in concert and in his home state!  I wonder if he’s been hooked up with some back stage passes or something?  I think so!

Greyson Chance Home for the Weekend

Greyson Chance will be leaving Los Angeles this weekend to head back home to Edmond, Oklahoma.  After a few weeks of hard work in Los Angeles I can only imagine that Greyson is starting to miss home and his friends.  This will be a great opportunity for him to see some friendly faces.

As discussed earlier, Greyson will be heading to New York next week.  Greyson’s trip back home will give him the oppertunity to gear up for whatever the trip to the Big Apple may bring and to hang out with his friends in the process!
