Greyson Chance performed at the nation’s premier outdoor food festival, Taste of Chicago on July 3rd, 2011!
The event took place at Chicago’s beautiful Grant Park on the city’s lakefront, it has been home to the world’s largest food festival since 1980.
Greyson delivered a complete and stunning performance for all those in attendance. Among the songs Greyson performed included his famous covers of Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi, Augustana’s Fire and Alicia Keys’ Empsire State of Mind… and there’s more! Greyson also performed some of his newest songs including Cheyenne, Unfriend You, I Wanna Be Where You Are and Heart Like Stone.
There were some “classics” in the mix though including the first song Greyson ever posted to YouTube before hitting it big, Broken Hearts. The song which everyone seemed to really sing along with though was his hit single Waiting Outside The Lines. (Probably because it’s been out for a while now and everyone knows the words!)
Here are a few videos from the days events!

One of the most common questions that is discussed when it comes to young singers is whether or not the parents have pushed them to do something they didn’t want to do. Greyson was asked this very question on The Morning Blend; his response was that he was never pushed. According to Greyson his family had an old piano in the house and one day he decided to start banging on it. Apparently Greyson’s mom was annoyed at this banging and told him to learn how to play…. he did just that!
On a personal note, Greyson talked about his upbringing and what things were like for him in school before the stardom. Greyson said that he was always a little bit of an outcast because of the music he listened to and the clothes he wore. Greyson acknowledged he has been teased in the past but joked that he would tell those bullies now to look where he’s at! A song on Greyson’s unreleased album entitled “Purple Sky” is actually about teen bullying and all the suicide related deaths as a result of bullying.
