Busy Week for Greyson Chance

One would think Greyson Chance was on tour this past week with his cross country ventures through the cities of San Diego, Seattle, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Greyson’s first stop was the Golden Gate City of San Francisco, California.  On August 20th Greyson visited the YouTube corporate offices where he performed his originally composed song, “Broken Hearts” and his ever popular rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi”.  Greyson then headed over to the MOG Music Network where he sat down for an interview with MMN Editor Andrew Phillips.  After finishing up with a photo shoot, Greyson then took off for the Emerald City.

On August 24th Greyson landed in Seattle Washington and sent us a photo looking down on the gorgeous cityscape.  During his visit, Greyson met some of the city’s most beautiful divas, the Seattle cheerleaders.  Before heading off to Chicago, Greyson swung by Seattle’s most notable landmark, the Space Needle!

A few days later Greyson sat down in the “Big Town” for some of Chicago’s world-famous pizza.  On August 27th, after chowing down on some of Chicago’s cheesy treats, Greyson took a moment to decide how it compared to New York’s pizza… he’s still undecided!

On August 29th Greyson was back at his home away from home, Los Angeles, California.  Following a busy week Greyson told us that he had a free day and was looking for suggestions on what to checkout in the City of Angels.   Maybe Greyson will visit Ellen on her show again!

During Greyson’s stay in each city we imagine work continued as he promotes his upcoming album through interviews and photo shoots.   We expect to see a surge in media coverage surrounding Greyson Chance and rest assure we’ll have up-to-the-minute, complete coverage of everything right here on Greyson’s Fan Site!  Stay tuned and rock on!

Greyson Chance YouTube Performance Coverage from San Francisco

Greyson Chance dropped by the YouTube corporate offices in San Francisco, California yesterday and performed a few of his most popular songs live.

We told you early yesterday that Greyson was scheduled to perform for YouTube at their offices and he definitely did not disappoint.  Greyson took center stage just outside YouTube’s conference hall in the main plaza of their building.  Attendees filled the room from top to bottom, literally!  Standing room only!

Prior to Greyson’s performance he expressed his appreciation, “I want to thank you guys so much for having me here; this is where it all started, with YouTube” Greyson told the crowd.   Greyson then lets everyone know he’s had a great time at the YouTube offices, his favorite part of the day being when he had the opportunity to hop on a Segway and “scoot” around the second floor on it!

Greyson then begins his performance and starts off strong with his originally composed song, “Broken Hearts”.  Greyson explains prior to his performance of the song that it was written about two girls and was his first video he ever posted to YouTube.  According to Greyson, he videotaped himself performing it one day while his parents were grocery shopping.  Unfortunately Greyson didn’t have a tripod when he filmed it so he got creative and propped the camera up on a stack of books.

Everyone in attendance agreed that Greyson absolutely killed it during his “Broken Hearts” song, but they were in for an even bigger surprise when he started to play his famous rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi”.  Both songs Greyson performed had some new twists that were really unique and added a new “flavor” to the songs.

Prior to the conclusion of Greyson’s visit at the YouTube offices, he took a moment to sign a few autographs.  He even signed one for the YouTube administrators, on a poster they made in support of Greyson for his visit.

It’s a good thing Greyson has been perfecting his signature.  We can only imagine how many autographs the young singer is signing on a daily basis as a result of his new found fame.

Shortly after his performance Greyson told us he had a blast performing at YouTube and said, “Everyone was so kind and their office is amazing!”

Although YouTube has yet to release their official video of Greyson’s performance (as of 8/21/2010 at 5:50am), several videos taken by those in attendance have begun to surface on YouTube.  Below you can find all the clips which have been posted to date.  We’ll have YouTube’s official video posted here as soon as it’s made available.  Enjoy!

Greyson Chance Interviewed by Hollywood Dame

Greyson Chance recently sat down with Hollywood Dame in one of the most informative interviews to date!

We are starting to wonder if Greyson Chance has slept at all lately with the mainstream media blitz in full effect!  Greyson has interviewed with numerous media outlets recently; from his CBS Evening News story to the BOP and Tiger Beat interview and then there was the (rescheduled) WonderWall interview.  Greyson’s staying strong though and moving ahead full-speed as he sat down with Hollywood Dame for an extremely informative interview.

(For those of you unfamiliar with Hollywood Dame, it’s an amazing celebrity blogging, news and information site written and managed by Cara Harrington.)

During the interview Greyson talks about his upcoming album, his goals and who he’d like to work with.  Greyson mentions that his journey so far has been amazing and a dream come true.  Greyson added that his inspiration to keep moving forward is his fans and his goal is to stay grounded and build a successful career for himself.  Greyson also reveals that he will be attending school online this year.  Towards the end of the interview Greyson talks about his upcoming album and tells Hollywood Dame that we should expect rock with an “interesting sound”.

So here it is, the interview in its entirety, courtesy of Hollywood Dame.

When did you realize you had an interest in music and what sparked that interest?

It started when I was really young, I think about 5 or 6. But it’s only gotten serious and I’ve gotten ideas in my head just recently. It pretty much started when I saw Lady Gaga perform at the VMA’s.

What has it been like to go from playing in front of your school to basically becoming a household name overnight?

It’s been an amazing journey. Really fun. Something I will always remember. It’s really a dream come true for me. It’s been great.

What are some of your plans for promoting your music and upcoming album?

I think we’re going to do the radio thing. I’m pretty excited about that. And we have a trip to Europe coming up soon. Recording the album is such an exciting process and it’s coming along great. It’s sounding really good.

What are some of your short term and long term goals that you have lined out for yourself?

My main goal is to just be myself and to stay grounded. My longterm goal is to make a career out of this. Ride the wave as long as possible.

What drives and inspires you to do what you love?

I think my inspiration to get up in the morning and go is my fans. They’ve supported me throughout this entire journey and have been there for me. They have been my support system and what makes me want to get up in the morning and do it all.

How do you balance a career and going to school while still trying to be a kid?

Well, when I’m home and with family or I visit my friends I’m just Greyson. I have a good balance between them. This year I’m actually going to be doing online school, so that will be a bit different. I think its an easy thing for me because of my parents, especially my mom, who still grounds me and takes away my computer and stuff when I’m in trouble.

Do you find it easy to play the piano and sing? Does it come naturally for you?

It comes naturally to me. About a year and a half ago I started singing and playing the piano and it opened a huge door for me that I never even knew was there.

What kind of music can we expect from you off your upcoming album?

It’s an interesting sound. Kinda a rock sense, so I’d have to say its a rock album.

If you had the chance to work with or record with anyone, who would you choose?

Lady Gaga. It would be amazing. She is great.

Besides music, what are some of your favorite things to do?

I like to play soccer. I like to watch movies, especially old time movies. But overall its soccer.

Lisa Chance, Greyson’s mother commented during the interview about how Greyson has always been destined for this, saying, “He’s always sung… Loud. Anywhere. We hear it all the time.”  Lisa also mentioned again about the fact that Greyson had never taken a formal voice lesson, “He literally just listens to a song and instantly knows what he wants to do with it” she added.

Tanner Chance, Greyson’s brother said Greyson just, “feels it”.

Greyson Chance Carries on Oklahoma’s Rock Tradition

Most Greyson Chance fans know by now that he grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma; but did you know that he’s part of a proud tradition of Oklahoma musicians whose fame skyrocketed before they could even drive?  Yay, history lesson time!

Greyson Chance was just twelve-years-old when he was discovered on YouTube by TV talk show host and former American Idol judge, Ellen DeGeneres.  After performing on The Ellen Show, Greyson went from a small town Edmond kid to a world-wide known singing sensation.  With his new found fame, Greyson joined a very special group of kid stars who’ve contributed to Oklahoma’s rock tradition.

What many people outside of Oklahoma may not know is that Greyson hales from a state which has produced kid-stars such as the Collins Kids, Hanson and Crooked X.

The Collins Kids duo (Tahlequah, OK) featuring siblings Lawrencine “Lorrie” Collins and his brother Lawrence “Larry” Collins started their young careers in the 1950’s, producing hits such as “Beetle Bug Bop” and “Hop, Skip and Jump”.  Larry, the younger of the two was just 10 years old when he was considered a “guitar whiz” by respected members of the rock community.

Then there is Hanson (Tulsa, OK); the three brothers who are best known for their 1997 hit song, MMMBop.  Isaac, 16, Taylor, 13 and Zac, 11 in 1997 were even bigger than the current day Disney trio, the Jonas Brother.

Last we have Crooked X (Coweta, OK), the Tulsa based rockers were just 14 when they opened for greats like Kiss, Ted Nugent and Alice Cooper.  After winning a CBS talent competition in 2007 they landed a major-label debut album in which they wrote every song on the record.

Now Oklahoma can cheer on Greyson Chance as he carries on the rock tradition.  If you recall, during a recent interview with Twist Magazine, Greyson commented on his first album which he is currently recording in Los Angeles.  Greyson said the album will have, “some upbeat songs, some ballads and then I have some rock songs”.

Oklahoma is proud of you Greyson! Rock on!

Greyson Chance Interview by Twist Magazine

Greyson Chance was recently interviewed by Twist Magazine and GreysonChanceWeb has dug up all the details for you!

In an earlier post we told you that Greyson Chance visited the Twist Magazine offices for some PR work.  Well we managed to find the transcript from Greyson’s interview during his visit.  In this interview Twist Magazine asked Greyson about his favorite artists, his upcoming album and his new found fame.

The following interview is courtesy of Twist Magazine.

TWIST: What kind of music can we be expecting from you?
GREYSON: I have some upbeat songs, some ballads, and then I have some rock songs. So it’s pretty diverse but mainly I would say it’s pop rock.

TWIST: Who are some of your favorite artists? Who has inspired you?
GREYSON: One of my all-time favorite artists is Lady Gaga. One of my favorite bands is Augustana. I also like other artists like Elton John, John Legend, John Lennon, and Christina Aguilera.

TWIST: Is there anyone that you would love to do a collaboration with?
GREYSON: Hayley Williams. I love her voice; I think she’s just amazing. I would love to work with her.

TWIST: Have you met anyone who made you feel starstruck?
GREYSON: Yesterday when I was in Oklahoma, I went to the Lady Gaga concert. I got to meet her; she’s amazing, so nice and genuine. She gave me a lot of good advice. She told me to work hard, keep on writing, to keep on singing and follow my dream.

TWIST: Did Lady Gaga see your famous video?
GREYSON: Yes, I’m pretty sure she did. She called me up on the Ellen show the first time I was on.

TWIST: How did you feel when you first went on the Ellen show?
GREYSON: A lot of things were running through my head, but it was so comfortable. I just think I felt at home and relaxed. Also it’s just really fun.

TWIST: Often people compare you to Justin Bieber. How do you feel about that?
GREYSON: What Justin has done is ridiculous and to be compared to him is an honor. But I think we are really different, I think people are going to be so surprised when the album comes out because he sings more R&B music and I don’t. But he is an amazing artist.

TWIST: Do you know when the album is being released? Are you excited?
GREYSON: I honestly don’t know the release date yet. But I’m really excited. I think it’s kind of a different look than people would expect from me.

TWIST: Do you ever think about how quickly you’ve become famous?
GREYSON: Of course. I was at the Lady Gaga concert last night. She sang “Paparazzi”, and it hit me then. She’s amazing and she sang it so well but if she did not write that song, I would not be in the position I am in today. So that really hit me and then I was thinking if my brother wouldn’t have sent that video to Ellen I wouldn’t have had this experience either. It’s just all these things that happened, it’s a blessing.

TWIST: Does everyone at your school go crazy over you?
GREYSON: Well my school life, of course, has changed, but everyone has been really supportive and I really appreciate it. You know, with my friends it’s just the same, when I’m with them we don’t talk about it.

TWIST: Do you have any dating advice?
GREYSON: Be yourself, it’s the best thing you can do.

TWIST: Thanks Greyson!

Wow!  This was an awesome and extremely informative interview by Twist Magazine!  Great job!
