BSC: You got your start by someone posting a video of you singing Lady Gaga’s song “Papparazzi” at a music festival. How does it feel that somebody posted a video up of you before you became famous?
Greyson: I pushed it to be all by myself. I pushed it, nobody else did. Yeah, it feels great, and you know I love “Papparazzi.” And I was just very lucky and blessed that Ellen found it.

BSC: Your brother sent her the link, didn’t he?
Greyson: Well, my brother sent her the link, but they contacted my mom, actually first.

BSC: Okay. And from there, she signed you, correct?
Greyson: Yeah, I’m signed to Ellen’s label eleveneleven, and also I’m signed to Maverick and Geffen Records, as well.

BSC: You released your first single in October. Do have plans for an album coming out or a tour? What are your plans for your music career this year?
Greyson: Well, I’m on tour right now. I’m on tour for Miranda Cosgrove. We’re in Houston right now, actually, and the tour is winding up. We have 3 more shows after tonight. And yeah, the record is going to come out this year, and hopefully I’ll be going on another tour and putting out another single and just keep on building and building.

BSC: Do you hope to have headlining tour of your own soon?
Greyson: Maybe. We’re gonna have to see. (Laughs a little.)

BSC: You also won an award earlier this year, I believe. The People’s Choice Award?
Greyson: I was nominated. I didn’t win.

BSC: Okay, cause it said on Wikipedia you won.
Greyson: Oh, no I didn’t win.

BSC: That’s Wikipedia for you. But how did it feel to be nominated on an award so early in your career?
Greyson: Well, it feels great, you know, and I felt honored to be nominated. It was so great, you know, and I thank my fans for getting me there and for voting. Even though we didn’t win, we still got nominated, so it was very incredible.

Greyson: Of course. That’s one of my biggest dreams.

BSC: Yeah, I think that is probably a big dream for any singer or celebrity at this point.

Greyson: Oh, okay. Well, you know, you have to just keep following your dreams, and let nobody bring you down because, you know, when I was a kid I said I wanted to be a singer, I wanted to be signed and go on tour. And everyone would tell me, “Oh you’re never going to make it, you’re from Oklahoma, you’re not gonna get there.” These kids have huge dreams, you just gotta keep on.

Greyson Chance We Live FM Radio Interview

Greyson Chance hit the airwaves for the second time ever yesterday during a phone interview on We Live FM radio with Adam Wurtzel.  If you recall, Greyson’s first radio interview was with Ryan Seacrest shortly after his initial appearances on the Ellen DeGeneres show.

Adam starts off the interview welcoming Greyson to the program and wishing him a belated Happy Birthday.  Greyson tells Adam that for his birthday he got some Glee CDs and a brand new Apple iPad!  When asked if he was a PC or a Mac; Greyson proudly says that he is a Mac “all the way”.

Adam then moves on and points out that Greyson has quickly gone from a YouTube sensation to a music sensation.  Greyson responded by saying he is excited for being accepted as a music artist and not just a YouTube singer.

When Adam brought up the topic of musical inspirations, Greyson responded by saying that he has “always loved the Beatles” and mentions how Lady Gaga and Paul McCartney are huge inspirations.

The interview is then abruptly interrupted by a buzzard, indicating time for the “This or That” lighting round.  Adam asks Greyson a series of questions which require one-word answers. Despite being short questions, we did learn quite a lot about Greyson.

Adam: Which do you prefer?

Adam: Pizza or Pasta?
Greyson: Pizza!

Adam: Writing or Performing
Greyson: Performing

Adam: Blonds or Brunets
Greyson: Brunets

Adam: Science or Math
Greyson: Math

Adam: Comedy or Drama
Greyson: Comedy

Adam: Rock or Pop
Greyson: Rock

Adam: McDonalds or Taco Bell
Greyson: McDonalds

Adam: Baseball, Football or who cares
Greyson: Football

Adam: Phone Calls or Texting
Greyson: Texting

Adam then asks Greyson how life has changed since his new found stardom.  Greyson responded by saying things haven’t changed that much because not too many people know him in Los Angeles, but when he is in his home town of Edmond, Oklahoma it can get pretty crazy.

A cool fact Greyson reveals during the interview is that he would like to learn how to play the violin, he thinks the sound of that instrument is awesome.

Greyson has always been humble during his rise to fame and has managed to stay grounded.  During the interview Greyson tells Adam that he is so appreciative and fortunate for his success and indicates that he would really like the opportunity to give another undiscovered artist an opportunity to become a star as well.

Before signing off, Adam asked Greyson what his experience was like walking the red carpet for the first time at the Twilight premiere.  Greyson responds by saying it was a “really, really cool feeling” to be on the carpet and his favorite part was taking photos!

Below you can find a clip of the interview in its entirety.
