Greyson Chance gave a huge shout out to his new friends of the Semi Precious Weapons rock group earlier today on Twitter.
There had been much talk about the genre or type of music Greyson would be laying his vocals to after our announcement that Greyson had begun recording his first album in a Los Angeles recording studio.
Since this announcement we’ve learned that fans should expect a rock themed album and ballads infused with piano solos. As any great young artist would do, Greyson has gone out and found inspiration for his debut album. We already knew how greatly inspired Greyson is by Lady Gaga and Augustana, but one of his newer idols has been the Semi Precious Weapons rock group.
It all started at Lady Gaga’s concert on August 11th in Los Angeles, California. Greyson had the opportunity to meet Justin Tranter of Semi Precious Weapons backstage. Semi Precious Weapons is on the Geffen/Interscope label along with Greyson; they are currently on tour with Lady Gaga.
Shortly after Gaga’s concert, Greyson told us via Twitter that he thought Semi Precious Weapons were ““True Rock n Roll artist”.” As we’ve said before, if Greyson wants to learn the ropes of rock and roll, these are the guys to do it from!
Since the concert it appears that the rock group has still been on Greyson’s mind because earlier today Greyson shot out another Tweet saying, “Rock n Roll never looked so beautiful! @preciousweapons.”
The entire Greyson Nation is in a frenzy waiting for the expected Fall/Holiday release of Greyson’s album. We can’t wait to hear classic Greyson Chance mixed in with some new Rock n’ Roll flavor!

Greyson Chance dropped by the YouTube corporate offices in San Francisco, California yesterday and performed a few of his most popular songs live.
Prior to Greyson’s performance he expressed his appreciation, “I want to thank you guys so much for having me here; this is where it all started, with YouTube” Greyson told the crowd. Greyson then lets everyone know he’s had a great time at the YouTube offices, his favorite part of the day being when he had the opportunity to hop on a Segway and “scoot” around the second floor on it!
